“Being a mathematics/data science major really gave me an upper hand when applying for jobs and internships. Data science is something that many employers look for, but not a lot of schools have. Luckily, our department of Mathematics and Statistics offers such a sought-after major. Because of my math education at Northwest, I was able to gain an internship at Cerner, a leading healthcare IT company, as a junior. At the end of my internship, I was offered a full-time job post-graduation because I was even more career ready than my employers had expected. This was largely due to the many hands-on projects and abundance of support given to me by my math professors.”
